Find the Right Support for Your Loved One
Finding someone to support a loved one is a personal and important decision.
Whether you’re looking for companionship and everyday assistance, senior support, disability support, respite, personal care, or a qualified healthcare professional, Plum Wings helps you find candidates whose experience, qualifications, availability, and skills align with your family’s needs.
We take care of the recruitment, screening, and matching process and support you through the placement, so you can focus on choosing the person you feel comfortable welcoming into your home.
What Kind of Support Are You Looking For?
Caregiving needs can look very different from one family to another. Understanding the type of support your loved one needs helps us recruit candidates with the appropriate experience and qualifications for the position.
General Caregiver
For individuals or families looking for dependable everyday support.
Responsibilities may include companionship, meal preparation, assistance with daily routines, outings and appointments, light household tasks related to the person receiving support, and other agreed responsibilities.
Senior Caregiver
For older adults who need additional support to continue with their everyday routines.
Depending on the position, responsibilities may include companionship, meal preparation, personal assistance, mobility support, appointments and outings, daily routines, and other practical support.
The role can be tailored to the individual’s needs and level of independence.
Health Care Aide (HCA)
For families looking for a trained support professional to assist with personal care and other day-to-day health-related support within the responsibilities and competencies of the position.
Depending on the individual’s needs, an HCA position may involve personal hygiene, dressing, mobility assistance, meal support, daily routines, and other appropriate care-related responsibilities.
Disability Support Worker
For children, teens, or adults who require support related to a disability.
A Disability Support Worker may assist with daily living, routines, independence, community participation, appointments, activities, mobility, communication, and other individualized support needs.
We work to match the candidate’s experience and skills with the requirements of the position.
Special Needs Caregiver
For families looking for individualized support for a child, teen, or adult with additional support needs.
Responsibilities vary according to the individual and may include assistance with routines, daily activities, supervision, communication, mobility, outings, personal support, and other agreed responsibilities.
Respite Caregiver
For families who need temporary caregiving support so a parent, family member, or regular caregiver can take time away from their caregiving responsibilities.
Respite arrangements may be occasional, scheduled, short-term, or recurring depending on the family’s needs.
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
For positions where the required responsibilities call for the training and professional qualifications of a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Plum Wings can recruit qualified LPN candidates based on the requirements of the position, with applicable professional credentials verified as part of the screening process.
Registered Nurse (RN)
For positions requiring the professional qualifications and scope of a Registered Nurse.
Plum Wings can recruit qualified RN candidates for private household positions where nursing knowledge, assessment, monitoring, or other appropriate nursing responsibilities are required.
Professional registration and applicable credentials are verified as part of the screening process.
Caregiver Staffing That Fits Your Family
Your caregiver position can be structured around your loved one’s needs, schedule, and circumstances.
Temporary or Short-Term
For support needed for a defined period, such as recovery, respite, temporary changes in family availability, transitional periods, or other short-term circumstances.
Permanent or Long-Term
For individuals and families looking for consistent, ongoing support without a predetermined end date.
Full-Time
For positions requiring regular support for 30 or more hours per week.
Part-Time
For positions requiring regular support for fewer than 30 hours per week, such as selected days, shorter shifts, scheduled respite, appointments, or recurring weekly support.
Live-In
For families looking for a caregiver who will reside in the home while working an agreed schedule.
Live-in does not mean 24/7 availability. Working hours, rest periods, time off, accommodation, responsibilities, and other employment terms must be clearly established.
Live-Out
For families looking for a caregiver who maintains their own residence and comes to the home according to the agreed working schedule.
The Right Support Starts With Understanding Your Needs
You don’t need to know whether you’re looking for a General Caregiver, HCA, Disability Support Worker, LPN, RN, or another support professional before contacting us.
Start by telling us what your loved one needs help with.
Some families may need companionship and everyday assistance, while others may need personal care, disability support, respite, or support that requires specific training or professional qualifications.
We’ll work with you to understand the responsibilities, schedule, and level of support required and help you define the position before we begin your search.
Where specific experience, training, certification, or professional registration is required, we’ll incorporate those requirements into the recruitment and screening process.
More Than Finding a Résumé
When you’re hiring someone to support a loved one, experience and qualifications matter – but so do reliability, communication, compatibility, and trust.
Our role goes beyond simply sending you applicants.
- Recruitment & Candidate Sourcing
We recruit candidates based on the responsibilities, schedule, experience, qualifications, and other requirements of your caregiver position.
- Candidate Interviews
Potential candidates are interviewed as part of our assessment process.
- Experience & Reference Verification
Relevant caregiving experience, employment history, and professional references may be reviewed and verified.
- Background Screening
Applicable background screening and documentation are reviewed or coordinated based on the position and the individual who will be receiving support.
- Qualification & Credential Verification
Where a position requires specific training, certification, professional registration, or other credentials, applicable documentation is verified.
This is particularly important for positions requiring regulated professionals such as LPNs and RNs.
- Role-Specific Screening
Additional verification may be completed where relevant to the position, such as driving-related screening when transportation is part of the employee’s responsibilities.
- Matching
We consider each candidate’s experience, qualifications, availability, skills, and preferences alongside your family’s requirements.
- Candidate Presentation & Interviews
Suitable candidate profiles are presented for your consideration. You decide who you’d like to meet, and we support you through the interview and selection process.
- You Make the Final Hiring Decision
You choose the candidate you believe is the right fit for your loved one and your family.
Once you and your preferred candidate agree to move forward, we help guide the placement through the transition into employment.
- Placement & Transition Support
Our involvement doesn’t simply end once you’ve selected a candidate.
We remain available to support you through the placement transition and applicable support period as you and your new employee settle into the working relationship.
Where placement-related questions or concerns arise, you can reach out to Plum Wings for support.
- Replacement Guarantee
We understand that even after a thoughtful recruitment and screening process, a placement may not always work out as expected.
Depending on the placement package selected, your placement includes a replacement guarantee period.
If the placement ends within the applicable guarantee period and the conditions of the guarantee are met, Plum Wings will conduct a replacement search in accordance with your Placement Agreement.
Available guarantee periods may include:
30 Days • 60 Days • 90 Days • 120 Days • 150 Days • Lifetime
The applicable guarantee period, eligibility requirements, exclusions, and replacement terms are determined by the placement package selected and your Placement Agreement.
You Remain in Control of Who You Hire
Plum Wings is an employment agency. We provide recruitment, screening, matching, placement, and applicable post-placement support.
You make the final hiring decision.
Once you select and hire your preferred candidate, that individual is employed directly by you rather than Plum Wings.
As the employer, you establish the employee’s responsibilities, schedule, compensation, and employment terms and are responsible for applicable employer obligations.
For regulated professionals such as LPNs and RNs, professional responsibilities must also remain within applicable regulatory requirements and the individual’s authorized scope of practice.
Already Found a Caregiver?
If you’ve already found someone you’re considering hiring, you may not need our full recruitment and placement service.
Plum Wings can help coordinate independent candidate screening and verification, including applicable references, employment history, credentials, background screening, and other role-specific checks.
